October 4, 2007. Version 3 of the Guidelines for Image Creators is posted. (Previously, this was called simply "The Guidelines.") There are numerous small edits throughout the document to make it shorter, more readable, and more accurate; but there are no major content revisions.
In addition, we now have a separate set of Guidelines for Image Receivers. The purpose is to help image users (publishers, designers, image archives and so on) in the preparation of their own Digital Image Submission Guidelines. Our expectation is that, by publishing a Submission Guidelines document that uses well-defined terminology and adheres to best practices, each image user will see lower costs, fewer makeovers and missed deadlines, and better-looking results in the digital workflow.
